Temporal stability of the SNARC effect — Preregistration

Abstract

In the current study, we examine whether the high correlations of SNARC slopes between different body positions we found in our previous study can be explained by the temporal proximity of task administration, which would suggest that temporal fluctuations in the SNARC effect contribute to its previously reported low test–retest reliability. To investigate this temporal aspect, we focus on the two body positions that showed the highest correlation in Study 1—standing and sitting (r = .63). Participants will complete the parity judgment task in both positions, and each participant will perform the task twice, with an interval of approximately one week between measurements (7 ± 2 days).

Preregistration is available at Open Science Framework.
